Choosing a qualified rhinoplasty surgeon could be considered the most essential and tedious part of electing to receive a rhinoplasty procedure. Most of us have heard or seen the damage an unqualified plastic surgeon can wrought, and hence, we are very cautious when selecting any sort of health practitioner.
When it comes to finding plastic surgeons, there are a number of organizations that are designed to help consumers in their search. Such organizations include American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The ASPS website can prove extremely helpful in helping you locate a competent local surgeon that can help you with your goals.
The online world is only one tool in your surgeon-locating arsenal. Speaking to your primary care physician for a referral over to a rhinoplasty surgeon is always an option. Friends or close family members who've undergone such a procedure can also prove to be indispensable when compiling a list of promising candidates. As your list grows, try to visit as many of the doctors as you can. You should get a very good feel for how knowledgeable they are and what sort of experience they have in performing the procedure.
The hunting process should start as early as possible. Competent rhinoplasty specialists are almost always booked for at least a few months. Scheduling consultations with these doctors, and eventually an operation date can take time. Hence, it is extremely important that you take action well in advance.
In asking your friends and family members for guidance, don't be shy about brining up the topic of a rhinoplasty. You will encounter some who are much more willing to talk than others. If you feel that someone considers your questions to be offensive, simply move on to another person. If you are able to talk to someone who's actually undergone the procedure, you will get a chance to see a particular doctor's skills in real-life. If you can't really spot any scars and see the doctor did an overall nice job, you should list their doctor as a potential candidate.
As you continue to speak with rhinoplasty patients, you will find that most underwent the procedure to either combat the signs of aging or to simply change the appearance of their nose. If you share some of the same motivations, you can get a good idea as to what will await results wise by talking to patients with similar underlying reasons for choosing to receive the procedure.
Discussing the cost can sometimes be a touchy issue, however, if you notice the person feels comfortable about discussing this aspect, don't be scared to ask. You want to get a very holistic picture as to what the particular surgeon has to offer. If the individual happens to have the doctor's contact information somewhere nearby, ask if you can get a copy. It saves you work and puts you step closer to receiving the procedure.
Patients who are hoping for the best outcomes from this procedure best adopt a patient mentality beforehand. Finding a competent surgeon, and thereafter scheduling an appointment date and recovering from the procedure can take a good amount of time. Plastic surgery in general is better suited for those who can be patient and don't have unrealistic expectations. When you keep your expectations reasonable and stay patient, the chances of a successful outcome from the procedure grow exponentially.

Among all the cosmetic surgery procedures performed on an annual basis, a majority of them are rhinoplasty surgeries, or nose jobs. This popular and relatively inexpensive procedure has allowed a countless number of individuals to life a more normal life, without being troubled by their disfigured nose. While the outcome of this surgery is in nearly all cases favorable, patients need wait an extended length of time before the results of their procedure become apparent.
This period of time typically lasts anywhere from several weeks to several months. The results of this procedure can typically continue to improve as much as a year after the actual surgery was performed. Until that time, there is something you can do to mask that swelling and bruising left over from the procedure - use cosmetic products. Cosmetic products can make the recovery period much more pleasurable and can detract your attention from the unsightly aspects of the recovery process.
In the post-op stage, most rhinoplasty patients experience skin discoloration, scarring and swelling. Although this is something to be experienced after most cosmetic surgery procedures, a majority of patients can't afford to live with these symptoms as their job requires them to interact with others, where naturally, their face is a focal point during conversations.
Concealer is the preferred product for patients during the recovery phase. It has a substantially thicker consistency when compared to foundation, and as such, it can more easily quell the appearance of scarring and bruising. You need to select a concelear that best matches your skin tone, and proceed to apply it to the affected areas. Extreme caution needs to be taken during application, as the surgical site will be sensitive. The incision site needs to be handled with the most care. Talking to your doctor about what concealing products are recommended is advised. Poor choices do in some cases lead to infection of the operation site. If concealer is not your product of choice, you can elect to your color correctors.
Swelling is one of the more difficult things to mask during the rhinplasty recovery period. Many patients have successfully used foundation to create a contouring effect that detracts attention from the swelling.
As mentioned before, talking to your doctor before employing any sort of masking techniques is important. Some common sense precautionary measures include using clean makeup applicators as well as using products that are hypoallergenic. Patients need to remove any and all makeup from their face before they go to bed.
Makeup that lingers overnight can lead to an infection. Infections can grossly extend the overall length of the recover stage and can also lead to increased discomfort. Patient's that strictly follow their surgeon's instructions in regard to product selection and application technique won't have much of a problem.
Cosmetic products can be a true life saver for those who've undergone facial surgery that has left them with various disfigurations. When used responsibly, these products can make you forget you ever underwent a plastic surgery procedure and can help you get about in life until your nose has fully healed. The entire process is demanding of a large amount of patience, however, those who proceed without haste stand to gain the most from a rhinoplasty procedure. With a little creativity, anyone can expand their patience level and make life a bit more bearable until desired results surface.
